Strongest Roll…

Ever roll with the Professor and feel like you’ve had your best effort in a long time….and still get your ass kicked? All the time. 😂

Professor has been resting his back, and took some time of rolling. Until tonight. His game was spot on, I got destroyed.

It’s great to roll with higher ranks, the battle for space is clearly at another level.

I’m sleeping good tonight 😁

Saturday Roll

Bobby taught a great class today, lot of guard passing drills and some bonus sweeps from the guard. We worked on mostly situation rolls afterwards. The quanlet. Center person stays till his guard is passed. 40 minutes of that felt like 15.. lot of fun.

I heard someone mention something that I was thinking about all week long. This brown belt mentioned that this certain technique felt awkward to him, and I had the same feeling during the last class. And I figured out quick what it was when he mentioned the same, we’re not wearing Gi!!

No Pain.. No Gain..

Disclaimer: Never finish a hard days workout with an evening of pounding a six pack of beers, your body needs all the recovery it can get and shocking your liver highly reduces the chances of full recovery before your next workout.

So after last Saturdays work out we celebrated my brother n laws birthday, he hardly drinks and bought two 12 packs, I couldn’t resist, evening birthday party was on.

Sunday Monday the hangover was heavy, the go to menudo therapy was not helping, and I mentioned to the proffesor that I would show up Monday…what could go wrong!?

Well, for 2 nd day back and hungover. .. I think I did ok. Sitting here on my evening break writing this, I am severely in need of REST!!

Kicked Out Of Da House

Starring at the PC wife’s walks up to me early morning to to give me a hug….my head turns around 360 like the exhorsist… She calmly tells me…”you need to go to jujitsu”.

So I went … Garage Jujitsu workouts in 100 degree 50% humidity … Desert life jujitsu…

The three months off felt like ..well three months off… Lost a lot of my flexibility.. time to stretch more often.

There seems to be a silent code… Within the class… Self monitoring on a daily basis… Only show up if your 100%

Thinking Of Coming Back…

Exhausted… From just two rds of burpees and Jesse’s sit up routine. I’m home lying on a piece of mat, still spanking new, hardly used. Motivation is rare and hard to muster.. co-worker talking about his workouts, instagram posts of buddies cycling… and I’m home slowly gaining weight.. its not enough. The wall of Covid sorrounding me … Is this my day, the day I fall to Covid.. I sometimes wonder if I should just train .. I’m gonna get it anyways… But I’m responsible, a responsible parent, I need to do what’s right. Throwing caution to the wind is dangerous.

And the desert heat… It’s caused me to hunker down even more… 120 degrees outside… What’s a month or two off..

Two weeks away from anything is too long.. your body starts to shrink in muscle mass quickly after that time.. I was off the bike three weeks until my brother n law talked me into a “small” ride.. we did.. the small route nearby, mountain biking on our hardtails. I nearly puked… What normally would be just a casual ride has turned into a major workout ..

  My wife knows I want to start up again in jujitsu, there’s a few die hards still training, I follow on the teams messenger app.. I finish my set of burpees and situp routine gasping for air and she laughs…your not gonna make it in jujitsu…is that the motivation I was looking for?

Another round with Covid?

There lays the question, what to do if there’s another statewide shutdown? Just as California is loosening it’s mandate cases are jumping up as quickly. 30% in the first week. Covidvirus doesn’t take the summer off.

So just as I’m getting use to joining jujitsu again, some sobering news comes in from one of my mountain bike riding buds. He tested positive for the Covid. He has major body aches, fever, and a mean headache. The last I rode with him was a month ago, and almost a week if I joined the last ride. What a scary thought! And here I am going to jujitsu. He works at a hospital and probably got it from there but still, you can’t get any closer to knowing someone that got the Covid than that, besides a family member of course but one of your riding buds…nah man, shit just got crazy.

So of course I’m getting tested, I feel great but I want to sleep at night. So we’ll see what the results say. Most likely negative but the bigger picture is or question, do I continue to play Russian Roulette with Covid and Jujitsu…

With new guys coming in to class you wonder. I could possibly be out till November the way things are going, sucks.

Pain

Wow what a class last night, I probably should have warmed up a bit more. Guard retention drills, side mount escape drills and a bonus reverse triangle… Then four 7 minute rounds back to back in a 100 degree garage. Holy Shit!

The 2.5 month layoff has turned my guard into Jello. We have a gung ho kid, really good and anxious to make his mark, rolled with him and thought I’d impress him with my guard….nope legs gave out on me!! I got tired 2 minutes into the round … WTF… I decided not to chance it and pinned the poor guy on his back for the remainder of the round ..was not gonna chance this endless supply of energy from this guy to get tapped. Strong kid!

Wasn’t That Bad…

After a month and a half hiatus, I returned to class. Last night’s training was last minute decision. I had spent most of the day Mountain Biking at Skypark Santa’s Village Bike Park. Exhausted from that and just eating dinner, I realized I had said I was showing up for class that evening, even sent an apology to the proffesor. 30 minutes to class my concious got the better of me. I went to class. Working out in 100 degree weather out of a garage… It was awesome.

When To Return

It’s eating at me, not training. I had been doing my half hour drills at home up till two weeks ago, and I almost feel bad about it! 🤣

If it wasn’t for my mountain biking I’d probably really be going backwards as far as staying in shape goes.

So it’s May, and this stay at home thjng was supposed to end April 30th? Most likely not till mid June. People are getting antsy and wanting to just rip the masks off their faces and run naked almost just to defy the closure.

So Proffesor is wanting to open up training again, we train privately out of his garage. The usual headcount posts come out for the day to day schedule, with if there’s not enough heads then no class for that day. And sadly I ts hard to bring in just four. I want to go, I’m sure the others do too…but that Corana thing, we beat our chests and yell “It’s FAKE”!! Yet respect it at the same time as if an angered rattle snake is there…just waiting, to bite, and inject it’s deadly poison.

I want to go back, and just train.
